Creating Safe Spaces for Your Fur Baby

The Dog Lodge strives to create an environment your dog will feel safe and secure in – knowing this looks unique to each and every pup.

Our mission is to ensure that every dog in our care is well looked after at all times,  where they are well loved, snuggled with and played out, so that they want to come back time and time again!

We began in 2018 by setting up our space to be a comfy and well-equipped home for dogs of all sizes. We received our first customer that December, and we’ve been growing ever since. Over the years, we’ve learned unique ways to prioritize each dog’s comfort.

We ask owners to bring their pup along with a familiar toy, their bed or blanket from home, something that smells like Mom or Dad and providing their usual food.

Beyond that, we provide raised dog beds, blankets, food dishes and extra toys & treats. We’ve also grown in our knowledge of how and when to socialize pups that are open to socialization, and when to provide private & quite space for the more anxious or reactive pups that just need their 1:1 time with people.

We understand that no two pups will come with the exact same needs, and strive to provide the care and comfort each pup needs to feel like The Dog Lodge can truly be their home away from home.

The Facility

The Dog Lodge offers indoor rooms of various sizes based on the size, temperament and needs of your pup. Some of our rooms are considered “private” with completely solid walls for dogs who aren’t fond of neighbors, while some are only divided by chain link so pups have the close comfort of a friend next door.

Each room has it’s own dog door leading to a private outside space just for your pup – fresh air, potty or to go chew a toy in the sunshine!

The Dog Lodge boasts approximately 14,000sq ft of fenced outdoor space for pups divided into 7 separate play areas.

This gives us more than enough space to exercise and play with dogs in a fun, fresh outdoor setting we know your pups need, while respecting that not all pups want friends to play with and need their own space as well!

West of our property is a beautiful pasture land complete with walking path around the fence line. This allows us to harness up your pup and take them by long lead (25-30 feet) and safely sniff and explore the pasture!

We have a 1,900sq foot indoor playroom for the days when weather isn’t ideal for outdoor play! Sometimes the hot summer heat has us hiding in the shade of the playroom, but also allows us to burn off energy on the -40 Saskatchewan winter days!

Both the office and our playroom also come equipped with benches built with cuddle time in mind. Big enough for the large or small lap dogs alike – to ensure that they still get the touch and time they need at the end of a long day of play!

Meet the Team

Meet the owners!

Deb, Blair and Koda were the heart and start of A Second Family Dog Lodge.

Married 30 years, with 3 kids, 2 grandkids with another one set to arrive in February, and genuine dog lovers in every sense of the word.

Koda is the face and logo of A Second Family Dog Lodge, and was a foster turned foster fail who has become a beloved member of the team.

Blair has a passion rooted in business consulting and working alongside people to help them unlock and achieve their full potential by understanding what their strengths & innate abilities are and stepping into them with confidence. This passion has helped us develop a family like team of staff that are the face & who you see day-to-day at the Dog Lodge.

Deb is the motherly touch and visionary that helped bring A Second Family Dog Lodge to life. Her attention to detail & bleeding heart for fur baby’s of all shapes and sizes has been the frame work that makes A Second Family Dog Lodge what it is today.
